Name Changes
A name change is a common thing for women who want to restore their maiden name after a marriage. A name change may be granted even when there are minor children. If you would like to change your name, it is best to do so as part of the divorce proceedings. While you can always change your name outside of a divorce, doing so would require additional attorney fees and court costs.
To change a child’s surname, it requires the consent of both parents or a court order. A husband can never force a former spouse to change her name.
